Meeting of Minds – The Rhythm of Blues

Inspired by colour, my concept for the Dulux Light Up the Rhythm of Blues Design Competition 2026 explores the idea of a “Meeting of Minds” — a layered conversation between colour, geometry and people.

The underlying structure draws directly on five layered shapes, reinterpreted through the Dulux Colour of the Year palette. Softened through translucent overlays, these shapes create depth and resonance, echoing the rhythm of blues music — fluid, soulful and interconnected. The layering becomes symbolic of the blending of voices and perspectives gathering at the talks stage, where ideas overlap, intersect and evolve.

Soothing soft geometrics form a calming yet visually striking backdrop, guiding the eye through an intricate dance of form and space. Influenced by interest in the balance between symmetry and subtle irregularity, the composition embraces both structure and spontaneity — mirroring the dynamic exchange of dialogue.

By distilling complex visual relationships into harmonious patterns of shape, line and colour, the design invites reflection on connection and perception. It becomes more than a backdrop; it is a spatial expression of rhythm, unity and shared creative energy.
